    Title: HAPPY FRIDAY!
Hi everyone, hope you all are having a good day today. Happy Friday to ya! Today I added two new primitive products to the site. They are a Primitive Crock/Utensil Holder, and a Primitive Cream & Sugar Set. I would have had them on here this morning, but my internet wouldn't work again. For some reason when it gets hot outside, the satellite dish doesn't want to work, so couldn't get any work done. It's been really hot here this week. In the 80s & 90s today. I haven't spent too much time outside, I really don't like heat like that. So I opted to stay in and get some other things done around the house that needed to be done. One of my sisters gave me this old antique wooden lawn chair. I spray painted it white with a little of the wood showing through. Im going to paint some flowers on it and set it out on my front porch. I plan on adding a before and after picture when its done.
I'm also working on adding some other items to the site again. Their listed below. Not sure in what order I'm going to do them in.
Were thinking of attending a show in Packwood, Wa - September 4-7. It draws big crowds from what I've seen. So if your around that area you might want to check it out. I will let you know for sure if were going to go or not.
I'm working on a new blog for the company, not sure when I will have it up and running, but when it is, you will see a change if you keep up with my blog.
    CUSTOMERS WITH EXPIRED GIFT CERTIFICATES!
If you have a gift certificate that has expired, and you would like to use it, let me know by either email or phone so I can give you the discount!
Ok, that's it for now. You all have a good weekend, and be safe!~Jody~

    Title: What's New
Hello and happy wednesday to everyone! Hope you all had a fun, safe fourth of July weekend. We all went down to the water front to watch the fireworks show that the city puts on. It's the first time my daughter and I have seen it, rick has seen it before and wanted to take us to it. We really enjoyed the show, it was wonderful, and there were lots of nice fireworks.
Here's what's going on at Adorable Country Classics. I've had some health issues which I've had for a while now. I've been seening a couple doctors, and had some tests done. They didnt find anything, thank god.
The company my husband works for has promoted him to being the company mechanic and with that they purchased a really nice kenworth shop truck, and new shop thats close to home. Last week I spent some time with my husband riding around in a Kenworth for him so he could practice driving a big rig before he takes his test. Yes, I have a CDL class A with a tankers enodorsment. I actually drove dump trucks, water trucks, and belly dumps for 7 yrs before I started this business. I still love driving, just hate the hours. But BIG Trucks are my thing. lol So along with going to the doctors and filling orders, and riding around with my husband, I've been pretty busy. I am still working on the new products that I mentioned, and hopefully will have one of them up by the end of this week, or monday. Have a good week everyone!~Jody~

Title: NEW PRODUCTS ON THE WAY!
    NEW PRODUCTS ON THE WAY!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend.
I’ve been busy the last couple weeks filling orders, and taking custom orders. I'm working on some new Products to be added to the site soon. What to expect:
    Primitive Canister Set
    Primitive Crock/Utensil Holder(OOAK)
    Primitive Sign
    Primitive Cream & Sugar Set(OOAK)
    Country Utensil Holder
    Country Napkin Holder
    Country Refrigerator Magnets.
If your interested in any of these items, please check back.
    Now for the personal stuff.
My husband and I have been working on the outside of our home on the weekends, for the last month. We’ve got the outside of the house repainted/stained. There is a couple more things to do with it, but for the most part it’s done. Boy does it look different! Doesn’t even look like the same place. I will get pictures up when the flower beds are in. We pressure washed our deck, and re-stained it, so it looks good now. I planted somewhat of a garden. With as busy as we’ve been it’s not much of one, just a few vegetables is all. When we purchased the home there were no flower beds here what so ever, so were going to be adding those, but probably won’t be adding any flowers till next year. The front yard contains a sloping rock wall, that just looks horrible. My husband started on the re-sloping so we would have more of a front yard, but there’s still a lot more to do to that so we will be working on that this weekend.
Most of you know my father passed away a few weeks ago. This fathers day was pretty tough for all of us. We sure miss him!
    Have a great week everyone!~Jody~

    Title: INTRODUCTION VIDEO
Well it's finally here! The long awaited introduction video I made & mentioned last year. Wow, I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally get it up & running. Ok, I recorded this myself with my digital camera sitting on my tripod, so don't expect it to be perfect. lol :) I'm very camera shy. I don't like being recorded, but I wanted to introduce myself to you so you could see who your doing business with, where I do my work, and to introduce some of my products, & the incentive programs I offer when purchasing from my store. Click thumbnail to watch. It will take you directly to the video & will start playing automatically.

Hello and Happy Friday Everyone! The last time I blogged, it was about my father passing. We're all doing ok so far. It's been a couple of rough weeks but were managing ok. We've been helping our mother get through the tough times, and she's handeling it as well as can be expected.

    Title: SAD NEWS
Your probably wondering why I haven't written in a while. I have sad news to report. My father passed away last week. He was 73. He came down with the flu (Norovirus), and was bed ridden for 6 days. My mother was taking care of him, keeping his fevers low, and he was on his way to getting better, so we all thought. He was finally back to eating solid foods, and holding them down. Then he just passed. He had alot of medical problems, and he was suffering from them. We all know he's in a better place now, but it's still very hard. All I know is I miss my papa! It's hard to believe he's gone. "Please treasure the times you spend with your loved ones".
Here is a photo of my dad, myself, my sister, and brother when we were kids, getting a horsey ride from my dad. When my sister called and told me he passed, this was the first memory that came to my mind of my dad.
    >

I will be getting back to work tomorrow, so soon you will find more new items on the site again. Have a good week everyone!~Jody~

Title: MOTHERS DAY & PRODUCT UPDATES
Good Morning! I hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day! I know I did. First, my daughter came over and we all had dinner together. I also got the greatest news. I'm going to be a grandma, for the first time. My daughter is pregnant. I'm very excited about this, and can't wait. Of course I have several things in mind to make for the baby and my daughter. I have two younger sisters, and both of them have grand children. I've been wishing for grandkids for some time now, but never said anything to my kids. I just felt that when the time was right, that they would make that decision. For Mothers Day my kids went together and purchased a Cricut Expression. For those of you that don't know what this is, It's a computerized card & sign maker, it also makes home decor words for walls. I actually looked at one of these years ago online, and thought they were pretty neat, and look fun to use. But I never thought about it after that. So getting this as a gift was an absolute surprise! I finally played with it last night for the first time, and I had alot of fun.
Now onto other matters. I'm hoping to add my new products this Saturday. They include:
    Primitive Cheese/Butter Holder
    Primitive Magnet Set
    Primitive Sign
I've also got several other items I'm working on at the moment as well. They include:
    Primitive Tea Bag Dispenser
    Primitive Pop Corn Bag Dispenser
    Primitive Sign
So if your interested in seeing any of these items, please check back. Ok, time for me to get back to painting. Have a fantastic week everyone!~Jody~

I did manage to get one new product almost complete, so I hope to be adding it by this weekend. I will keep you informed. I would like to wish all the mothers out there, Happy Mothers Day! It's a wonderful sunny day here in Washington. The weather was great all weekend.

    Title: New Terrye French Design
This is the new design I was working on last week.
I was intending to have this up last week, but due to orders, family life & the Easter holiday, that just wasn’t possible. This is one of my favorite Terrye French designs. I was originally going to paint this design onto canvas, and frame it, and I still may do that in the future. But, one of my customers in Michigan wanted it painted on her bread box. I think it came out just darling! Hope you enjoy Connie!
    ,,,,

The bread box was painted a crackled ivory over black. Then I painted the design on. This design includes an old prim dress hanging on an old pedestal hanger, an old hat box & old prim sheep pull toy next to the dress. On both sides of the bread box I’ve painted a pear with a crow sitting on top, with some lavender in his mouth. I’ve also added some Terrye French roses to the top, both sides, and the front edge of the box. I have distressed and antiqued this piece. This design is available by choosing the “Custom Painting”, option box. In the notes to merchant area type “Sweet Country” design. If you prefer the top to say “Sweet Country” instead of “Sweet” or would prefer a different saying, at no additional cost, let me know in the notes to merchant area at check out.
I‘m going to try and have some new products added by the end of the week again, for those that are interested, I will keep you posted.
I hope you all had a Happy Easter and got to spend some time with your family! My daughter came over and spent the day here visiting, and even made us all dinner. She’s become quit the cook! We had such a good time!
Have a good week everyone! ~Jody~

    Title: What's New
First I want to wish all of you a Happy St Patrick’s Day!
The Primitive Bread Boxes turned out to be a popular item. I've been making quit a few of them since I blogged last. I will be adding the custom orders that I mentioned last time I blogged by the end of this week, so keep a look out for those, they are really nice. I will be adding the new products that I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs real soon, so keep a look out for those. I'm very excited to be offering these.
I've also been very busy around my home. My oldest son has come to live with us while he attends Olympic Community College in Bremerton. So I've been getting him ready.
My husband has been busy working as the mechanic for the same company he logs for. Work has been really slow here. The mills don't want to take the wood because the construction for the housing market is so slow. So he's been working in the shop instead. Recently he cut the Seattle Seahawks logo out of steel, then welded it onto a eagle four carriage, and then painted it. This is used to pull logs up from steep slopes that you can't get equipment to. The boss wanted it done to cheer up the guys, because things are slow. It worked; the guys like it and think it's pretty cool. He even got a custom order to do another one. Rick had fun painting it too. Here's a photo of it.

I hope you all are doing well! Have a good week all & talk to you soon! ~Jody~

    Title: What's Coming Up
I wanted to let everyone know what I'm up to, and what you can expect to see real soon.
I'm working on several custom orders right now. One is the Primitive Roll Up Door Bread Box, with saltbox houses and cows design. I'm also working on a canister set to match that bread box. I'm also working on another Primitive Bread Box in the Terrye French design, but may add some pineapples & crows to it. I will show them in the blog when I'm finished, and I may add them as products too, I will let you know.
I also wanted to let you know that now you can customize the Bread Boxes, with a design that you choose, by checking the box below the item that says "Custom Painting". When you purchase any of those items, and go to checkout, you can tell me what you would like on the Bread Box in the notes to merchant area, and I will work with you to give you the design you choose.
I still plan on adding the Rooster & Sheep products I talked about earlier, when I'm done with the custom orders.
I have my introduction video completed, and will be adding that to the site real soon as well. Anyhow, I hope you all are having a good week, and I will talk to you soon. ~Jody~

    Title: The Painting Process
I stated in one of my earlier blogs, I wanted to demonstrate the steps that I take to paint a project. I wanted to have photos with the demonstration, but due to time restraints that isn’t possible right now, so for those of you interested here is an explanation of how I go about my daily routine of painting.

    Painting On Wood-Most Items:
First I cut out what I want to paint using a band saw or scroll saw, or I pick the item out from my stash that I’ve collected over the years. (And believe me I have tons!) I then sand the piece until it is nice and smooth with a belt sander. I then bring it into my art room and do the last of the sanding by hand. I then paint a wood sealer over the entire project and let that dry for 15 min-1 hr. Then I re-sand again until the wood is smooth, but don't sand the sealer all the way off. Sealers are used on wood, so the wood doesn't use so much paint. Then I have to basecoat or paint the background. Sometimes I have to paint both. Sometimes I have to sand this with what’s called Super Film, which is a very fine sand paper. Once the base coating is done I then have to do my shading & highlighting. Then I add the tiny details. I sign my name, then spray it with a clear gloss sealer, and then attach the hardware for hanging.

    Primitive Painting:
First I do the sanding, sealing, sanding again like I did above. Then I paint the object either black or a dark brown. This usually takes 1-3 coats of dark color paint. Once the paint is dry, I paint a medium called crackle on the object, and let that dry, normally about an hour. This is what I use to crack the paint and make it look aged. I then paint a lighter color over the dark color and the crackle medium, being very careful not to paint it too much, or it will spread that light color right off, so you have to be very careful when you use that crackle stuff. After the light color has dried completely I then do my base coating. Once all the base coating is done, I then do my shading and highlighting to the object, and then the tiny details, my name. I then antique the piece or pieces with dark colored stain. This is what gives it that antique look. I wait for that to dry, usually 12 hrs, then I spray it with a matte finish. Once dry I attach the hardware for hanging.

Painting on Glass, Tin Or Metal:
No sanding is usually required when painting on these items. Apply a Primer specified for that particular object. So if your going to paint on Glass, you use a glass primer, and so forth. Let your primer dry and use the right types of paint for each object. They make glass paint for painting on glass and so forth.

    Getting Ready For The Web:
Taking photos. This is my worst nightmare. It’s what I dread the most, I don’t look forward to this part, I’m not the greatest picture taker, but I’m working on it. This usually takes me just as much time to take the photos as it does to make the project. I have to consider distance, lights, flash, heights of objects, what’s in the background or surrounding area. Once the photos have been taken I download them into my computer. I look them over and decide which ones to use, or not (more often then not). Sometimes I end up taking more photos, until I get it right. I should of taken photography in school! Once I decide what photos to use, I take them into a photo sizing program and resize 3 photos for each item, name them & save them for my website. Then we move onto downloading the photos I want to use, into my website builder program. Once I’ve done that I go into adding a product category. And from there is where I come up with the item #, item name, the description for my product, price, ship time. I also add options for the product, and choose the photos for that item. I also have to add in the weight of each item, so the real time shipping calculators work right for my customers. So that’s the process! I hope this didn’t bore you to tears!

It’s very interesting, challenging, fun, tiring, and frustrating at times, but it’s well worth it in the long run, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't able to paint!
Thank you for taking the time to read this stuff! ~Jody~

    Title: The Economy
It's on everyones mind, everyones talking about it, maybe even worrying about it. I know I am. They say it's going to get worse before it gets better. I hope that Obama knows what he's doing. I hate saying this, but I have to. It's really the first time in my life I've ever really worried about where our country is headed. I have relatives who lived through the depression, and I hear their stories about what it was like to live through that, and it wasn't fun. I hope that they won't have to live through it again. And I hope we won't have to live through it either. I'm hoping and praying that Obama is taking the right steps to get our country back on track. Even though I don't know what the right steps would be. Everyone has their theory. In light of that, we know times are tough, they are tough on everyone, including us small business owners. We want to make our products affordable for the average american. So we're lowering prices on a few of our products.
I will be adding my new prim items this week, their almost finished, so check back to see those.~Jody~

I'm working on the site today reorganizing products, so your going to see some changes. From now on, ALL PRODUCTS will have UNLIMITED quantities, except for One Of A Kinds. So, there's no limited amount that you can purchase of a particular item, unless you found it in One Of A Kinds.

    Title: WHAT'S NEXT
Hello everyone, Here's what's happening around here. I added my new primitive bread boxes, & candle lamp boxes to the site 2/6/09. They were fun to create and paint. I love creating new products, especially when their my own designs. Here's what you can expect to see next:
    Primitive Candle Lamp Box-Spring Design.
    Primitive Kitchen Canister Set
    Rooster Make Do
    Sheep Make Do.
I'm also going to be working on some custom orders I have, but when finished, will add those to the site as well. One of my customers recently came up with an idea for the Wooden key Cabinet. Were going to make the front panel of it interchangeable, like the prim bread box, so you can change your paintings, throughout the year. I will be painting some different panels for the Wood Key Cabinet, and the Primitive Bread Box for you this year.

Have a wonderful week everyone! ~Jody~

    Title: What's Happening
Everything is fine on the flooding ends of things.
But, it's been real interesting around here this week.
I ended up spraining or pulling a muscle in my shoulder, getting out of bed one morning. It's slowly getting better, still hurts to do daily chores though. I was in the hospital for a bit for being sick, with dizzy spells. I'm better now. And my husband hit a deer doing 70 mph on the freeway. My husband is fine, and the deer just trotted off like nothing happend. The truck is another subject. The hood came flying open and shatterd his windsheild. He's lucky that he didn't get cut from any glass. I guess it was real hard to see where he was going, but he managed to get the truck stopped. I guess its driveable, but needs some badly needed repairs!
I finished a Gingerbread Girl painting, that I had started around Christmas time, as I got to busy doing other things. Right now I'm working on custom orders. One is an Old Gristmill water scene painted on tile. A painted vintage coffee grinder, wishing well floral arrangement, & two birdhouses. I will be adding some other items as well, hopefully some Primitive items, so stay tuned for those.
I sure hope you all had a good week!~Jody~

    Title: New Products & Flooding
    Flooding:
As you may have seen on the world news, Washington State is undergoing the worst flooding in years. There are alot of people that have been evacuated from their homes, and today they called for 30,000 people to be evacuated. A 20 mile stretch of I-5 has been shut down, and all of our major passes are closed due to the dangers of avalanches, and mudslides. I can happily report that our home is not effected by this flooding. But, our mail, and or supplies might be. Everyone in the state of Washington could really use your prayers right now. ~Thank You~ Jody

    New Products:
I will be adding a link to my eBay, on my site here in the near future, where you will be able to bid on one or more of my items. If you are a doll collector, you may want to check back to see the new doll that will be listed on eBay this Sunday 1/11/09. It will be OOAK, and will NOT be reproduced. It will be signed and dated.

    Title: HAPPY NEW YEAR
First, we want to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year! We would also like to thank you for your patronage for the last year, we appreciate it very much! It keeps us going and inspires us to make new products to offer you. So thanks for all your support!
    What’s New for 2009!
2009 is going to be a very busy year for us. We are already designing many new products for you that are our own designs. Some of the new products will be:
    Primitive Ornaments
    Hand Sculpted Figurines
    Folk Art Dolls
    Gingerbreads
    Angels
Primitive Home Décor (I know I’ve been slacking in that department, so I’m going to try and offer you some more of those items).
    & Penguins
So keep a look out for those!

We have also decided to attend some shows this year. We haven’t decided which ones yet, but we will let you know. I’m going to be putting up a show dates calendar on our site as soon as we have decided which shows to attend, so keep an eye out for that. It’s been a long time since we’ve done any shows, but we thought it would be fun to get out there and meet people. So if you’re in the state of Washington, check the calendar on our site when it becomes available, and come see us, we’d love to meet you!

We wanted to set up an area on our website where you could go to send us your input of “What you would like to see more of”. But I found out there’s no way for me to do that. So if you would like to send me an email regarding “What you would like to see more of“, please do, we would love to hear your input, and we’re always open to suggestions or ideas. You can contact us through the contact button. I will continue to try and work on this so it’s easier for you to use. I’m still working on an Introduction Video, hopefully I can get that done soon! I’m also working on changing the way our blog looks, so be prepared for changes when you view that area. I’m also going to try and add some new photos of our family and different things, in the blog so you can get to know us a little better.

    The Holidays
Remember that I had written in my blog last, that we didn’t get very much snow where we live? Well, two days after I had said that, it started snowing here, and it didn’t let up for 2 days. We ended up getting a foot of snow! (Be careful what you wish for) I was in heaven & bummed at the same time. And yesterday and today we woke up with snow on the ground, not a lot, It’s already gone, darn it! Anyhow because of the snow we didn’t get to spend anytime with our kids or family. And because of the economy, we didn’t have much of a Christmas either. I made gifts for our kids & family because that’s all we could afford, thank god everyone understood. We didn’t even put up a tree, decorations or anything, (that’s a first). It was kind of a bum deal and a little depressing too. I know we’re not the only ones affected by the economy; there are people in way worse shape than us. So we are just thankful we have a roof over our heads. I just hope the economy gets better, for everyone.

So, for Christmas, my husband and I stayed home by ourselves and spent time with each other, and made some more of our handmade items to offer you. After the snow cleared up, we went to see our kids, as they we’re pretty much snowed in for Christmas and couldn’t go anywhere. We still haven’t seen our parents; they both have tons of snow. My parents are reporting 3 ½ feet. Ricks parents have way more than that. So we’re waiting for some of the snow to clear at their places so we can go visit them.

Over the holidays we went to a couple of craft shows to see what other people were making & selling. We were very disappointed at what we saw. Imports from China! When they say handmade goods, or handmade crafts, that usually means you get to see what other people are making right in your own backyard right? What ever happened to handcrafted in America?!

Anyhow we’re looking forward to 2009, and we hope all of you have a wonderful year as well!

    Title: December 5, 2008
Hello everyone, It's hard to believe but the holiday season is here. It seems like it came alot faster this year, for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm just really busy, I'm not sure. I love this time of year. I'm usually 4' deep in snow by now, and watching the snowflakes fall from the sky. But due to our move this year I won't get to see that, because it very rarely snows where we live now. I love decorating for the holidays, and enjoy my time with my family and loved ones. I don't get to see my family as often as I'd like to, due to how far apart we are, and how busy we all are. I really miss seeing my parents & kids, and I'm looking forward to seeing them over the holidays. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and get to spend some quality time with your family! I've been really busy the last month working on custom orders, filling orders and making new products & Christmas gifts! I've added two new products today that aren't hand painted, and they turned out really cute, you can find them in the Winter catagorie. I'm going to be adding more new products to the site. Mostly it's all custom work that I've been working on. I've also been designing several new products that I can't wait to add next year, so keep your eyes out for those. Ok, time for me to get back to work! Have a Great Weekend! ~Jody~

    Title: October 24, 2008
Hello, just a little update as to what's been going on at Adorable Country Classics. When I bloged last I mentioned that I'm developing some new winter products. I'm going to be adding those NEW WINTER products next week some time, so check back to see those. I've also been working on a custom order for one of my customers in Canada. It's the biggest painting I've ever done, and it's turning out really cute! It's one of the products I already offer, just done in a bigger size. I may show pictures of it when it's finished. I've also been working on ways to offer discounts. You will find the discounts on my homepage. I'm also thinking of adding to my blog a demonstration of what and how I do my paintings, including descriptions & photos. But that all depends on how busy the holiday season goes. Speaking of the holidays. If your planning on ordering for the holidays, now is a good time to order. Also, my products make great gifts! People LOVE hand made items. I can do the gift wrapping for you and ship it directly to them. Just mention that in the note to merchant area when you order. I'm also working on an introduction video, so stay tuned for that. Anyhow that's it from here. Hope you all have a safe and fun weekend! ~Jody~

    Title: October 14, 2008
Hello good friends, fellow crafters & loyal customers! As alot of you may know from my blog, or conversations we've had, I've been developing all kinds of new products to offer you. Mainly PRIMITIVE & ONE OF A KINDS. It's been fun picking up vintage items from my local antique store, and creating & decorating them to give to you. As a matter of fact I was at my favorite store today, but didn't find anything. Sometimes it's like that. I like to check out the antique stores once a week to see if they have anything new to offer, sometimes that doesn't happen with my busy schedule, but I try to make it there.

I've been spending my time, working at filling orders. I'm hoping to add some NEW WINTER items real soon. I'm planning on making some Terrye French, Jamie Mills Price & Renee Mullins designs/decorations, as well as a few of my own designs. Some of the designs include Gingerbread, Snowmen, Sheep, Raggedys and so forth. Some of those I've been wanting to do for a long time now, so I'm glad that I'm finally getting to them. I've been spending my evenings learning about marketing, and blogging.

My only daughter (Naomie)turned 20 this month! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!)It's hard to believe that, that much time has gone by already. Seems like just yesterday she was my lil baby. (She's always gonna be my baby). Hope all is well with you and your family. ~Jody~

I'm done adding fall items for the year. I will work at adding more fall items next year. I was going go directly to adding Christmas items but have changed my mind. I haven't produced very many primitive items, so thought I'd get back to that for a bit. So check back for those. Then I will go to making Christmas items, some primitive, & country. Ok, thats it for now. Have a good day!

Hello again! Thought I'd take some time to let you all know what I'm up to, since it's been a while since I've posted. I've been working hard on filling orders, and making new products. Next week I will be adding 9 new products to the site. Some are fall paintings,(its right around the corner ya know), so be sure to look for those. And also going to be adding some primitive, and country products as well. In the meantime, I'm still going to be working on making some new fall products for the site, since there isn't very much in that department. Then I will be moving on to making some new Christmas products. Yes I'm thinking Christmas already! It always seems to creep up on me, and I have to stay ahead of the game! My husband and I are still working on the house remodel on the weekends. I really can't wait till it's done, and we can go back to spending some time on the boat fishing or just plain relaxing. But the way things look we may miss the boating this year, with all the work that needs to be done to this place. Oh well there's always next year right! Anyhow I hope you all are doing well, and in good health! Take Care! ~Jody~
